The story takes us to Venice during the 16th century, where wealthy and greedy man named Volpone (Italian for “sly fox”) pretends to be be dying to obtain the inheritance from his heirs. This satirical story of greed and lust is ranked among the finest Jacobean era comedies.
Composer John Musto adapted the story for an opera setting, which became 2010 Grammy Nominee for Best Recording.
